"The game fans are voting for their favorite music, so naturally a higher vote symbolizes a better fit for the game."

Yeah, sure :D

... but it hard to compete vs bands with a 10000+ Facebook fanbase.

This is exactly what's wrong with this "vote via facebook button" abomination. Uh, I wonder who will win? Probably the ones with the biggest follower- / fan-base? Has not much to do with Wreckfest players. Most voters probably don't even know or play the game. I know, it's just speculation and a gut feeling, but doesn't sound very far fetched to me.

Bugbear sent all the participating bands an email that a jury will decide which bands get selected. (Afaik today)

So this is not longer valid:"NOTE: The Main Prize and Runner-up prizes will be awarded for tracks from either of the categories based on the voting of the track."

I think thats good news for the people who are going to play the game.
For many bands its a slap in the face though. "You got a lot of votes but we picked a different song with less votes. We just changed the rules, but thanks for the free advertising!"

I'm part of both teams. I do want a good soundtrack, and I do think some of the songs topping the charts are terrible, but thats my personal taste.
I understand Bugbear wants a soundtrack they can support. But on the otherhand, this is not what they wrote in the contest. And the work I did to acquire votes seems wasted time now, and I did invest quite some time tbh. They should have made it clear from the beginning, but I guess they changed their minds when they saw the tracks topping the charts or the ones they like getting less votes.

Good news for the gamers though. So Im half happy, half disappointed ;)

Oh, ok, I didn't know that. Now I feel almost sorry for some bands. But, as you said, maybe it's better for the game(ers).

BTW - I just sorted "by rating" and saw that the rating is appartently not linked to the facebook-likes but to the number of shares? (which you can share more than once per person (twitter,fb,g+,linked in)  I thought it was linked to the facebook likes, but I guess it doesn't matter anymore anyway now ;)

A reflective point if veiw, and thanks for info. The whole competition is a tragedy, but hopefully we'll get a good soundtrack and the artists (both solo and bandwise) get their recognition deserved (and hopefully some cash too).

The Audiodraft team said today that they will decide the winners based on the combination of "staff picks" and likes. So likes still matter, in a way.

We're running a bit late here but there's still time to vote for your favourites as well as participate so here goes...

A small teaser...

Exciting news! We need a rocking soundtrack for Wreckfest and since we thought this is a perfect chance to promote all the awesome indie bands out there and give our fans a chance to voice their opinion on the soundtrack, we have just opened a game music contest. The winners will have their music featured in our game and receive cash prizes, with the top dog receiving $3,500 and nine runner-ups $1,000 each. Don’t forget that artists featured in our previous games have included many upcoming indie artists as well as household names like Megadeth, Rob Zombie, and Fall Out Boy, so now you or your friends have a chance to break big. We want to have the best possible soundtrack in the game so make sure to vote and share the news with your favourite bands!

Check out the contest site HERE

In other news, as you have no doubt noticed for the most part we’ve been flying under the radar since our last update and that’s simply because we’ve been working on the game like there’s no tomorrow, adding new features and content as well as polishing what we already have. We can soon share more details with you but rest assured there’s a plenty of good stuff coming up – loads of new unique cars, a proper career mode with championships, car paint job customization, brand new HUD, greatly improved AI, polished tracks and a lot more – in short, everything that will soon make Wreckfest a complete game. Stay tuned!

We are looking forward to it. Hopefully more cars in that category.
Are there any ETA on when we can get more info about the new features? Is it weeks, or right before release which will be in late December probably?

I`ve never been so excited to see a Volvo 240 in a game before lol can`t wait for all the new details... I hope the console release isn`t that far behind the PC full game release!

That's the kind of communication we like. WOOO!
But for the love of God, make a Steam announcement about that. Not just for the new cars and new info, but also for the contest, most Steam players following the game are still not aware of it (reviews are proof).
