In the most recent patch there seems to be changes to global emitters. I have custom ones in my mod that were setup for the old textures/models, so now look really strange with the new textures.

Is there a list somewhere of the textures/models used for emitters (bagedit doesn't show which its using)? so i can copy the old ones into the mod and save redoing them all.

Which type of effect is that - contact, health or something else?

Tire skids and contact wall it seems are most broken. Tire contact with gravel also is now kicking up square dust

All the effect textures can be found in pc\data\art\Effects\Particles, if those are what you're looking for?

That's great thanks, big time saver,i can just copy the old ones into the mod. I would've hunted them down myself but without reference in bagedit on their location i didn't want to go on a wild goose chase.

Just copying them over might mess up some of the vanilla effects, but fingers crossed.

Yea it does, seems to mess up the additional ones you've added e.g firewall fire when health is low. Ill have to investigate more.

Yeah effects went thru some changes in latest patch. Texture has been changed and rearranged and it means all the effects (*.fxbp) has different image coordinates and size that before.

Here what I found out about smoke effect tonight:

I found out today that the January Build give me square smoke when I use my purple smoke mod. :(

So I did some testing and found out the asphalt_slip_smoke files from June 2017 Build were causing the square smoke. The asphalt_slide_smoke files from June 2017 Build are OK. In the new January Build I found the image size setting was change from x=4, y=4 to x=8, y=8:

Swapping back and forth between 4 and 8 I could make square smoke appear and disappear. Also found changing image size gave smoke effect different shapes.

4x4 get square smoke:

16x16 give small round smoke puffs:  :)

32x32 give you stick shape smoke:

64x64 give you 4 sticks:

128x128 give you this:

I stop testing at 128x128.

So if anybody has custom smoke, just go in and change all the asphalt_slip_smoke files to image size - x=8, y=8. This should fix your smoke with the January 2018 Build.

But I like the smoke ball puffs, so I set asphalt_slip_smoke3.fxbp to x=16, y=16 and set color to white: #FFFFFF.

I ended up remaking them from your new default settings in the end. They look a lot better (the new default ones) btw.

I wasn't able to reproduce the nice explosion that looked like this bofore the update:

but after the update it looked like this:

At least I was able to get rid of the square smoke by referencing to new smoke.fxbp files, but I found no explosion and don't know what coordinates I would have to use to make the fire visible again. I see the differences in particles_c5.bmap but that's about it.

Janne shared these explosion files, that I used ever since: http://community.bugbeargames.com/index.php/topic,9119.msg91576.html#msg91576

Any chance of sharing updated new explosion files? Please? :D That would be wonderful.

EDIT:
@Petri - Could you help us out with the explosion coordinates, please? I'm poking around in the dark here.

The old particles_c5.bmap texture looked like this:
...coordinates: "Image XY" in the fxbp:

The new one looks like this:

EDIT:
Is that even the correct explosion bitmap? How do we adress the new coordinates? Please enlighten us. :)

SOLVED: New X/Y coordinates for the explosion are 0/26 :)

The file I used was smoke1.fxbp in data\property\effects\debug\explosive. Don't know if the gasbottle uses the same file? I made copies and renamed it since then. The .fxbp effect-files are determined in the ...trigger.fxtr file which is determined in the .dntp file that's in the .scne file. Hope that helps? :)
