You can scroll down to the end

2004 - BugBear releases FlatOut, which becames instant success

2006 - BugBear releases FlatOut 2, which becames instant success and one of best racing games ever made.

2007 - BugBear, seeing how popular gets Xbox 360 every day, decide to make "updated next gen version" of FlatOut 2 to sell another 1m sales.
But no one in the US give a fuck about FlatOut and port flops hard, especially with this shitty cover art NTSC version got: https://cms.gameflycdn.com/proxy/gf/boxart/480w/124705.jpg
Meanwhile, atleast five other Xbox 360-only racing games flopped: Burnout Revenge (HD port), Full Auto, Ridge Racer 6, RACE Pro, Import Tuner Challenge aka Shutok? Battle X (Genki)

2008 - BugBear ports Ultimate Carnage on PC, with a hope PC players (from Russia and EU) will save it. It somehow works, atleast in Russia

2008 - BugBear started development of FlatOut 3

2009 - Empire Interactive unexpectedly gets bankrupt, BugBear lose FlatOut IP, and FlatOut 3 gets canceled

2010 - Zoo Publishing, who is known for low-budget Wii games, buys FlatOut IP (Seemingly no one else wanted to buy FlatOut IP...), they give it to fucking Team6 Game Studios, who is known for masterpieces such as "Super Taxi Driver 2006" and "German Street Racing"
Obviously this game would never pass quality control on PS3 and Xbox 360.

2011 - BugBear finally found new publisher and it's Namco. On February 7, 2011, Ridge Racer Unbounded announced

2011 - Zoo Publishing sold FlatOut IP to Strategy First, and they re-release updated version of FlatOut Wii as universally known "Worst game on Steam" - FlatOut 3: Chaos & Destruction
Obviously this game would never pass quality control on PS3 and Xbox 360, again.

2012 - Ridge Racer Unbounded released, gets 72% on Metacritic, but flops hard in sales because again no one in US don't give a fuck, and japanese players reaction is probably like: WTF?

2013 - BugBear announced Wreckfest and get everyone hyped. Then you know what happened from 2013 to 2017

2017 - Strategy First and Bigben Interactive publish "FlatOut 4: Total Insanity" developed by Kylotonn, with no car damage, and incredibly low sales numbers.

2017 - Promised final release of Wreckfest for PC version in 2017 and console versions for late 2017/early 2018 not happened

2018 - 25 April 2018, no final version for PC released, and development of console versions is not even started.

Now what BugBear need to do:

1. Develop new FlatOut for Bigben Interactive / Strategy First (BigBen is like Empire anyway)
2. Release it primarily for European market, and PC / PS4 platforms (just port from PC to PS4 and Xbox One, as with FlatOut 1-2)
3. But keep in mind your TRUE FlatOut may flop in sales because of three previous games
4) And, since it's gonna be Blu-Ray release like FlatOut 4: Total Insanity, don't repeat this stupid mistake again - make good cover art, you can ask someone from ArtStation

Good luck with that. It's not up to Bugbear.

According to Bugbear, it started a year or two ago.

The console versions are already running with mostly the same feature set as the PC version, but they're obviously not ready for release yet.

Are you suggesting they ditch Wreckfest altogether? Because that's just insane.

Zoo Games ran into finical trouble like Empire Interactive, that when bad publisher Strategy First came into the picture and force Team6 to release a beta version of Flatout5 (  FlatOut 3: Chaos & Destruction ) before Christmas to get the Christmas sales.  >:(

If Team6 was given enough time to finish Flatout 3, I don't think they would of gotten the "Worst game on Steam". The beta did suck big time, but the patches Team6 did improve the game. And there were some nice ideas in the game, like getting hit by a train when you in 1st place!!  :o  And derby on a ice lake with wind devils that could pick up your Monster truck.  :D

Where is Rally Trophy?  >:(
Rally trophy is a very relevant game considering simulating nature of WF.
Also, no, no and no.
Forget about FlatOut - it's been shitted on beyond redemption. Maybe in ten or fifteen years from now on, but not in near future.

I disagree with your opinion on what should bb do next. Starting another new game is not a great idea IMO, they have a lot of work on Wreckfest and don't forget about StuntFest. When I see how much work was put into Wreckfest after these long years (even these - as we call them "Bad updates" were somehow great move for the game, not so great for us but very important for BB) after all that now I see Wreckfest more like some kind of "platform" that can be expanded even after release - it would be shame to just finish it and than move on the next thing + modding community is amazing already and you can download everything from cars, skinsn tracks and lately career series and so on. I hope it will get only better after release with a lot of new modders getting into wreckfest.

(This next thing is out of the way but it counts as something that should be made in the future)

Should be great to make Wreckfest feel more open for the community. It's just my idea but it could work well:

Instead of having a single track list in custom events - we should have extra track list that will be at the end of normal tracks with title like "Community tracks" or "Custom tracks" where if you enter this section you will have an empty list with text like "browse community made tracks in steam workshop"
Same could be done with cars and skins and for the career series - we should have an extra section in career - something like "custom challenges" or "community challenges" where you can click on the button and browse community made series in steam workshop.

Simply, the point of it is - instead of single button in the game saying "hey, there are some mods you can download in the workshop" you can show players that they can get some more stuff in here and there by linking them to steam workshop tracks, cars, series and other random things.

I'm still hoping we will see snow tracks and caravan\ trailer races we know Bugbear has tested, in an expansion pack with new cars, tracks and game modes in 2019.

Want snow tracks? Let Bugbear know here.

Bugbear would like to give us trailer races someday, they have done some testing.  :D

I'm thinking Bugbear will need to DNF your car once your trailer is de-hitch from car, so only players with a trailer still connected to car can finish race.

Trailer\ caravan races be a great why for Bugbear to show off their soft body damage model. :)

I'm hoping for that too - just imagine how fun it would be in multiplayer everyone trying to protect their shaky trailers  :P

I'd like to see the spiritual successor to Whiplash or Demolition Racer someday.

Maybe Bugbear could get the rights to one of those.

Probably not.  :'(

Bugbear shouldn't think about Flatout, the series is dead because of all the bad reputation it got thanks to Team6 and Strategy First. What they should do is what they are doing right now, focusing on making Wreckfest the best game possible and finishing it.

Then... and only THEN, they should remake Stuntfest as a true Flatout spiritual successor, with nitro, stunts, explosions, destructive races, etc. The potential is there, the game just needs to be more than Flatout's side minigames.

After Stuntfest, it would be great to see development for Wreckfest 2 starting, with all the features they couldn't add to Wreckfest due to limitations and other reasons. Just imagine, the game we know today but with a deeper career mode (with sponsorship deals, meaningful drivers and their own profiles, rivalries and driving skills), actual car ownership (replacing parts realistically, maintenance), etc etc.
