Sound like something happen to your career files if you are back to level 1. If you did not make a copy of this folder where Wreckfest save your progress, You won't be able get your 40 hrs back.

C:\Program Files (x86)Steam\userdata\[YOUR UNIQUE USER ID]\228380\local\wreckfest

Were you using any mods when this happen?  Might need to do this if you seeing all red Xs when going online:

"First try launching the game with "-disable_mods" (without quotes) launch option (right click on the game name in Steam Library > Properties > Set Launch Options). If that doesn't help, remove\ rename C:\Program Files (x86)Steam\userdata\[YOUR UNIQUE USER ID]\228380\local\wreckfest\modlist.mods file and try again."

Sounds like you've some mod enabled if you can't join multiplayer.

Disable the mod.

I can see
C:\Program Files (x86)Steam\userdata\[YOUR UNIQUE USER ID]\228380\local\wreckfest

it has all my cars and everything in it but wont register in game. Removing the Mods got rid of the red X's.

The modlist.mods keeps populating every time i launch the game after i delete it.

modlist.mods is another file that bagedit will open.

I associated modlist.mods with bagedit, and then created a desktop shortcut. I can turn mods on and off that way before starting the game.

Maybe doing that will help you ensure that all mods are off? Move all sliders to the left and save.

Wreckfest going make you a new modlist file when you start Wreckfest, if there not one there.

The modlist file can go bad. Had it happen to me once.

i can see all the car pictures of my own in the file but none of it still registers. I have deleted and renamed the modlist.mods and it has done nothing at all.

Fixing modlist file only fixes the red Xs problem online.
