Hi, let me introduce myself, i've played flatout since the PSP version, i think it's called "Head On" or something like that (excuse me if i'm wrong) and i recently bought Ultimate Carnage on Steam, it's an excellent port and everything (ignoring the problems i had at the beggining with GFWL), it's very funny, good graphics, gameplay, everything, best racing game i've played in a long time.

However, i've been noticed that the Games For Windows Live servers will be shut down soon on 2014, so, what will happen to FOUC? it will become totally unplayable? or only multiplayer will become unplayable? some games are updating their old games, and yes, i've read the forum rules, that "it's hard to update old games" but, i don't know, leaving this awesome game unplayable would be sad, even more for those who bought it this last week on Steam when it was on sale.

It's been discussed before - it is out of Bugbear's control. Only the publisher (Strategy First) can take care of it. On the other hand, SF likely doesn't have the means to change the game's code. As sad as it is (for me as well!), I think the multiplayer simply won't work anymore.

Isn't Empire the publisher of UC? At least it says so on my box. And not sure what it is like on consoles, but on PC you can't even play the game without signing in to LIVE, so I'm suspecting the game will die completely along with those servers unless something else is done.

Empire died and Flatout now belongs to SF.

Ah, I see. Reinstalled UC on my new HDD today though if anyone on here would be interested in playing on the PC.

I posted this in another thread, look like this thread be a good spot for this post, too:

I wonder if making a GFWL offline profile would be the way to go. Then GFWL would not want to connect online. But starting a new offline profile would start you over in UC. Would loose all progress in UC. Offline GFWL profile does not sync up with online GFWL profile. Unless things have change since PC DIRT 2 ( 2010 ).

What has Microsoft said will happen to old GFWL games when GFWL is shut down?

Would suggest using Tunngle for online play, but I don't think there any LAN option in UC, so Tunngle option would not work.

Never got to try the online in fouc because I had a ps2.

I got the game on steam but gfwl hates me and wont let me sign in.

I guess fouc's multiplayer is gunna end up like the car on the main menu, ruined.

FOUC had so much potential, I'd definitely like to see someone hacking into the GFWL code and removing it.

Somebody know if Bugbear will patch FOUC to play online without GFWL?
