I think it a time for a solutions thread. We use to have a thread like this in Codemasters old GRID 1 forum. ( hopeful this thread will become a sticky )

Also might give this thread a quick look before reading the solutions below:
READ FIRST! IMPORTANT INFO

When a good solution/fix is found for a problem running NCG, post the problem: and then the solution: with a link to thread.

Problem: Cant Play Demo,ERROR
hello, please i need help, i downloaded the demo and instaled on my laptop with windows 8.1 core i7 and nvidia gt 750m... but when i try to open .exe game i get erro missing dll d3dx9_42.dll i already downloaded the dll from internet, but when the game will load  its just crashh...

i already did try to open with vga nvidia and hd intel and both i get crash when its loading....

please help... sry for a little bad english..

Solution:
Where did you download the dll from? Hopefully from Microsoft using their installer here http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35 and not some random dll site. Try using the official installer if you didn't. Since you seem to have dual GPU, did you try forcing the usage of the better nvidia GPU from the nvidia control panel?

game is working now after instaling micrsoft thing link, thank you very much...

and very nice game..

Problem: Next Car Game Has Stopped Working
"Next Car Game free technology demo.exe has stop working" - error message
Hi,

My name is Ben, I recently downloaded the Free Technology Demo of The Next Car Game but I am having issues loading the game, I will include a video that I uploaded to my YouTube channel below. The video will explain it all.

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNOA4ds0BH8&feature=youtu.be

Regards, Ben Rolfe

Solution:
Please try updating DirectX runtime library from here (safe, Microsoft site):

Problem: Texture creation 8192X24 failed fatal error
OK, I just purchased this as well, and I'm also getting this error "Texture creation (8192 x 24) failed"  Is there any fix?  or maybe a video setting adjustment?

I too am trying to run this on a laptop, Dell Inspiron 17R N7110 Laptop has an i7 with 8 gigs of ram, with an Intel(R) HD Graphics Family built in video.  this runs other games great..

Solution:
Hey, I wanted to update. I re-installed my Intel HD drivers, and the game loaded without the error! I haven't played it yet, but I will right now!

***********************************************

Problem: Next Car Game Not Finding Graphics Card
I'm thinking of pre-ordering Next Car Game so logically I tried out the tech demo first, and I've struck a problem where under rendering device it only detects my laptops integrated graphics card and not my good video card. I've tried completely disabling the integrated card but then it only gives me the option of "Microsoft Rendering Device". Obviously it runs like crap on the integrated card so this is a bit of a deal breaker. I've had no issues like this on the hundreds of other PC games I play so am a bit of a loss as to how to fix this. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for your time.

Solution:
Open your GPU control panel and setup a "high performance" profile for NCG, i.e. force the use of the better GPU. The launcher will most likely still not show the better GPU, but it should work nonetheless.

Thanks. That seems to have worked just as you described. Much appreciated.

Problem: Can't Select NVIDIA Card on NCG Tech Demo
I can't seem to select my NVIDIA card on the video options before running the game forcing me to use the Intel HD card (which doesn't like HD games contrary to the name). My card is an NVIDIA Geforce GTX 660M.

Any way to get it recognized?

Solution:
Someone told me this solution and it worked. I'm pumping out somewhere in between 30 to 60 fps with full graphics settings and 7 AI players

Great demo Bugbear! That was really fun. Although it felt a bit too slippy, like always drifting. I liked the grip of FO2 cars more.

Performance is good on my laptop (i5 / gt 555m), unless my car is really sandwiched - drops below 10fps in that case until I reset damage. Not sure if it's my audio driver or the game, but sound worked only on the first launch so far?

Quote
The video settings don't detect my NVIDIA GTX 660M card and only shows an Intel HD card option. Any workarounds?

On notebooks with Nvidia Optimus, it should be as easy right-click on desktop, Nvidia Control Panel

Add NCG sneak peak to the program list and set it to high-performance gpu

Apply and have fun :)

Problem: Can't read discrete ATI video card(laptop)
Hi everyone! Need help, found a similar theme, but it was on NVIDIA chips.

The problem is that I have two video cards on a laptop, integrated and discrete, so here is a discrete card is not recognized, enclose screen.
I set up Control Center exhibited priority card application identified enhanced performance, nothing happened. Who faced, please help to understand. Simply impossible to play on an integrated graphics card :(

Solution:
Usually these problem goes away by setting high-performance profile in the GPU control panel and ignoring what it says in the NCG render device combo box. Have you tried setting some kind of global performance mode on in Catalyst CC instead of just an app profile for NCG?

Yes that pushed the performance!
The global thing worked out, I guess.

Now I'm able to play at 720p with every other option at mid (AA off).
->Derby stadium, 24 cars -> between 20-30 fps.

Not the best performance, but hey, it's pre-aplhpa :). At least I can play it now, thanks.  :D

Hi all again!

Maybe this will help, the problem was resolved quite unexpectedly, I set compatibility options when running the game on windows 7.
Strange of course, but it worked.

Hi, could you explain this more? You running Win7 and set compatibility option to a different version of Windows?

Hi! Sure, I have windows 8.1, but I ran the game in compatibility mode for windows 7, and it worked, FPS rose to normal values, missing lags. Well...may it will help for others!

Problem: Poor Textures
Hey guys. I just got the 1.01 demo downloaded and installed today. I seem to be having problems, though. The textures look terrible, even on max settings. I've tried to turn down the settings, run the game, then turn them back up. That didn't solve the issue.

Solution:
SOLVED:
deadmoroz14 linked to a post that helped me out. I needed to reset to default settings in Catalyst Control Center. Changing the settings alone wouldn't do the trick.

Problem: Unable to drive in the demo!
For some reason, I can't drive my car in the demo. When the game launches, the car automatically accelerates and brakes. I'm able to steer and operate other controls just fine. However, the acceleration/deceleration doesn't seem to be working properly. I haven't messed with the controls or program at all. I'm currently trying to drive with my keyboard. I already tried reinstalling the game, but the issue still appears. If anyone knows how to fix this, please let me know. Thanks in advance!

I am having  this issue right now. I can turn the wheels but the car revs and spins the tires for a second then stops, then it just repeats. Unplugging all of my USB's didn't fix it.
I need halp!

Solution:
Do you have any kind of controller ( pad, joystick, wheel ) plug into USB port? If so unplug them, then see if KB works OK.

Or might be your KB, got a second KB to try?

That worked! I forgot I had my wheel plugged in to the back of my computer. It works fine now. Thanks so much!

UPDATE
I started the game in windowed mode, now I can control the car completely, even if I switch back to fullscreen. Weird, but I'll take it!
Enjoying it now :)

Problem: Gamepad, keyboard or a wheel?

I have Logitech Momo steering wheel, Xbox360 and Ps4 controller.

The way the game is heading currently I would use my Steering Wheel - but I will possibly use the Xbox controller when if I don't feel like setting up the Steering Wheel.

Currently can only use the Keyboard in NCG - all other input devices don't work at present.

Solution:
Update: Downloaded the 'Logitech Profiler', now MOMO steering wheel works a treat!!!

Problem: game has stopped working with my wheel
When I first started playing this game it worked ok with my thrustmaster F430 wheel. Ive just loaded it and although some of the wheel buttons work the steering, acceleration and braking do not respond. Tried the wheel with other games and have no problems. Tried setting the wheel up again in settings and the parameters seem ok but when I start the game...nothing. Anyone else getting this

Solution:
We are still working on our wheel support, so it's not very great yet. Since it worked ok for you in the beginning, you could try deleting all the saved config data from C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\YOUR_NUMERIC_STEAM_USER_ID\228380\local\next car game pre-alpha

That worked. Ive got wheel support back again. Thanks for your help

Problem: ATI Radeon HD problems with sneak peek (fixed)
I guess my graphics card has pretty much had it (ATI Radeon HD 4800 series), first it was fine for years, but lately it has had pretty bad overheating issues with high-end games.
NCG demo runs but looks like this.

I'm pretty sure it's just the card's fault, I had some issues earlier with Fallout New Vegas and later on other games. Damn thing is going to be changed next week  :(
I've heard other people have problems with this card too, I'd advice to avoid the 4800 series if you're planning to buy an old graphics card  ;)

Solution:
EDIT: oh seems that "dynamic reflections" option was causing this, I also had the whole screen in white and couldn't see the cars before. Works fine now  :)
Maybe it's my 32-bit Windows XP that can't get all the new DirectX effects  :(

Problem: Not sure if this is my graphics card causing this.
Hey everyone. I'm not sure if this is really a bug but when I try to play the free demo of the game everything is white. I'm not sure if this is my graphics card or what. My card is an AMD Radeon 7700.

Anyone start the game but everythings just white?
all the options are fine, but the car itself just goes white? and when you right click and spin the car around everything goes blurred and whiter again xD if this makes any sense to you please help :)

Solution:
Check that you don't have anti-aliasing forced to on in your GPU control panel (it won't work with deferred renderer we have). Also make sure your drivers are up-to-date. Note that the ground and most static geometry is supposed to be white - the sneak peek has very little textures.

Problem:  ( video ) Driver error
I have a Ati Radeon HD 4850. When i use drivers from 2009 the game runs fine no issues. When i update to the most recent drivers 2013 the game loads but but all visuals are displayed like im using xray (inverted colours, models are rendered but its almost as if there is no refresh, they just keep rendering on top of each other) with a small square in the top left displaying the proper colours but only shows sky.

Any ideas?

Solution:
Make sure there is no forced antialiasing enabled in the GPU control panel (Catalyst Control Center in the case of ATI) as this sounds like an issue caused by that (though screenshot would be helpful in confirming that!) - our rendering technique of choice does not play well with traditional anti-aliasing.

Thanks Tapio, exactly what the problem was.By default it wasn't set to 'use application setting'

Problem: ZLib error
I downloaded on steam today's patch and since the patch was installed the game has crashed at the initial loading screen.  It is coming up with "Fatal Error: ZLib errror (-3): invalid literal/length code".

Solution:
Try to reboot Steam and verify the game cache. Let me know if it doesn't work.

Thanks Ben.  Fixed.

Problem: Game runs smoother than demo, but still laggy FPS
Hi,

I'm just reporting fairly slow playing time behavior. Oddly enough the 2.0 demo is much slower and laggier than the race alpha. Both are enjoyable and I can't wait to see this develop, but I was surprised to not get at least 40fps out of this setup.

Changing number of racers and other sliders don't seem to have much effect.

My specs:
AMD FX-8120 3.1Ghz
Nvidia GTX 580 3GB - Driver 332.21
16GB Ram, Win 7 64-bit

It seems to be acting like it is not using hardware rendering on the card even though I am able to select the proper video card to rendering. I have two monitors connected to the video card though.

Solution:
I had set that up but I did change one crucial setting that did the trick.

I had to change multi-display/mixed-GPU acceleration to Single display performance mode.

Making that change I'm now getting a very smooth experience. If anyone is running this game on nvidia with multiple monitors connected they may want to check this setting.

Play time...  :D

Problem: Sneak Peak 2.0 Not Working?
I Pre-Ordered The Next Car Game. I got the email with the steam key and also the download for the 2.0 Sneak Peak. When I get the zip file and I try to either launch the .exe or extract the file, I get an error. Can someone help?
Thanks,
Nick

Solution:
Wait never mind! Thanks for your help :D Now it works :D
Thanks so much :D

Problem: F710 wireless gamepad - won't show up ingame
Hello, i try to setup my gamepad (logitech F710 wireless) for NCG and it doesn't show up ingame. I use it for other games lately like Fifa or Assassins Creed and it works perfectly but it won't show up in NCG. Any solutions for this?

Solution:
I just bought one of these , you need to make sure that the controller is set to xinput and game will see it as an xbox controller

Its the switch on top inbetween the shoulder buttons, but you will be stuck with the mapping that game gives you, as the button layout cant be altered yet.

- i reconnected the controller with the logitech connecter
- i started ncg with the logitech profiler profile

Thanks!

Problem: Long loading times, low fps, and unresponsive/slow to respond
I tried playing the game for a few minutes today and for no determinable reason, the game loads very slowly, and when the game finally gets to the car selection screen, I'm getting 1fps or even less. If I try starting a derby match the frame rate stays at about 1fps, and I have to alt-tab out and manually close the game through the task manager. I also tried verifying the game files through Steam, didn't help. I tried closing and re-opening the game multiple times to no avail, and the last time it all out froze, but didn't crash.

It wasn't doing this yesterday, and I haven't done anything to the game. I usually run it maxed with 90+fps in 1080p.

notable specs:
i5-3570k OC'd to 4.2GHz (never had a problem with the overclock before)
Galaxy GTX 680 OC'd (tried opening/running the game with stock clocks and it didn't help)
Samsung 840 series 120gb SSD
Toshiba 7200RPM 2tb HDD (where the game and all my steam games are stored)
Windows 7 Home Edition SP1

Yeah, all my drivers are updated. It's only happening with NCG, I just played a few games to test if it happened to them too, but no luck, they all played fine. As a matter of fact, this is the only time this has happened to me as long as I've been a PC gamer; as in a year.

As I said this just started happening today, I have no idea how it happened, and I haven't done anything to the game. This is quite literally out of the blue. I should also add that I don't think a screenshot could help with this, and I don't have the Internet to upload video. It takes days to download games for me already.

Solution:
I through the Steam->userdata folder and didn't find a 228380 file, however I found the game location and deleted the folder and I'm attempting to re-download the game and see if that fixes it.

I'll post when it's done and hopefully I'll have good news

UPDATE: I have finished downloading the game after deleting the whole game folder, and everything is back to normal with everything running 90+ fps maxed out.

Problem:  Keyboard / Controller delay  - Steering lag
First, I want to say I love this game. however I am noting a bit of a problem with car control and I think I have come to the conclusion as where the problem lies. I notice in the game that there is about a half second delay between the keyboard or the controller and what happens on the screen.  It does not seem to be as noticeable in the Tech Demo, but mainly in the game with all the curves. The result is that braking and steering are effected the most because by the time I brake for a turn, the delay puts me into a wall or when turning the delay means I end up having to overcorrect because I have turned the wheel too long because of the delay.

I was not sure if any others were having a problem with this and had any suggestions.

Solution:
I'm curious to know what is your average FPS are? They average 40+?

If FPS dipping into the 20s can cause steering lag.

Are you using a third party program to remap buttons in NCG?

No steering lag with DFGT wheel and 50+ avg FPS.

I have lowered all the settings on the game for graphics and was able to get around 35 average for the game. The tech demo on the same settings was able to run much higher frame rate.

Guess it will be time to start planning on a new computer.

So getting better FPS did get rid of steering lag for you?

It reduced it greatly, but still notice it at times in the race games.

Problem: error - ZLIB

i can start up the game. but if i start a race i get a message : ZLIB error (-3) invalid stored block lengths :. someone here knows what to do ?

Anyone else with this error? It's making me rage. I just spent an hour trying to load into the game again (I've yet to get past screwing off in the other 'sneak peak 2.0' exe) and as soon as my game *should* load into a race i get this error ^ ZLIB error (-3) invalid stored block lengths. I've restarted countless times, I updated my video driver and controller driver in hopes to use a steering wheel and nothing.

Have you tried verifying the local game files?

IDK why I didn't think of this.. even though it's only a 2 gig game or so when I validated steam DL'ed 1.1 gig of something. Thanks for reminding me that trick ?demoticon?

ZLib Error (-3): invalid block type

Want to try one more time uninstalling NCG and also the files here:

E:\Steam\userdata\33812072\228380\local\next car game pre-alpha

To make sure you are getting a fresh install of NCG and be sure to leave computer alone while doing the download. Watch and make sure Steam is actually downloading the NCG files.

If this don't fix problem don't know what to tell ya.

thanks man that worked :)  i deleted all files out of the  228380   folder :)

Problem: Zlib error
Hi!
I bought the game on steam sale and wanted to play it, but I can't. I get this error:

Can someone tell me what is wrong?

Solution:
Ok, looks like I find out why my game didn't want to launch. If you using nvidia shadowplay turn it off, it makes the game crash. I'll post this to bug report.

Problem:
Low FPS with SLI

Solution:
The best thing you can do is turn on Alternate Frame Rendering 2 - this effectively forces frames to be rendered in parts across multiple GPU's. It's an alternate way to handle SLI rendering (as the name implies) and is the only way to really get NCG to use both GPU's as SLI is not currently supported.

Problem: Sneak Peek 2.0 wont start ( after using Steam key for stand alone version )
Hi there.....i just received an email from bugbear with a product key to add sneak peek 2 to my steam library.  So i entered the key and it shows up in my steam. But when i click play from the settings screen, it says sneak peek 2 .exe has stopped working !!!
Any ideas guys?

Solution:
One thing you could try is to delete all the user data from the non-Steam Sneak Peek 2.0.

To do that, navigate to %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local (open My Computer and paste that into the address bar) and delete all the folder that have Next Car Game in them.

Thank you Janne......That worked :)

Problem: [Fixed] Framerate issue with different cars
ISSUE
Noticed a problem with the framerate since the latest update.
DESCRIPTION
I've experiment overnight a lot of video settings combinations to try and find the faulty one responsible for the framerate drops. Conclusion, there isn't one : I ended up setting everything to max, with no framerate drops. That's when I understood.
The problem comes from the car I play with. The american gives me severe framerate drops (still playable but gives you a good headache), the american sedan doesn't give me any, even with every video setting pushed to maximum, including anisotropy and AA, and the european car is the worst : it's a one frame per second display I get, unplayable.
Tested with all 3 circuits, 24 cars.

Operating System: Windows 7 Professionnel 64-bit
Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) II X6 1100T Processor (6 CPUs), ~3.3GHz
Memory: 8192MB RAM
Card name: AMD Radeon HD 6970 2 Go
Sound Device : Creative SB X-Fi

Solution:
I take it build #2 ran just fine?

Your problem strange. All 3 cars get good FPS on my computer. I wonder before we try and trouble shoot this, it might be a good idea to get a fresh install of NCG.

Uninstall NCG and delete save folder:

E:\Steam\userdata\33812072\228380\local\next car game pre-alpha

I take it build #2 ran just fine?

That's right. But now that you mention it, I think I never tried the euro car on the previous build. Anyway, I'm downloading the game now. I'll get back to you after a few tests.

Edit:   Ok, I have to say, I was more than sceptical when you suggested to reinstall the game. I was wrong. No more framerate drops even with the euro car. You have my thanks  :D

Problem: Resolution selection broken with multiple monitors
ISSUE
Game only shows the resolution options for the primary display device, but runs on the intended monitor.
DESCRIPTION
When I attempt to launch the game, the launcher only gives me the resolution options for my smaller monitor (it is the primary monitor, (1280x720) but the game will launch on the larger monitor as intended).  In order to play the game at the normal resolution (1920x1080) I have to unplug my other monitor, launch the game, then plug it back in.

I can't just swap the cables around, the primary (smaller) monitor is RGB only, and I have to use an RGB to DVI-I converter.  Problem is, my other monitor (middle of the desk, used for gaming, is 1920x1080) is DVI-D only, and my GPU only has one DVI-I output and one DVI-D output.

Solution:
Check to see if deadmoroz14 has your solution before this one.

In the Graphics selection menu before NCG is fully booted up, there is a graphics card selection bar.  I would say make sure it is set on the right monitor, for if one graphics card is running two monitors, the menu will show two exactly the same graphics card in the graphics card selection bar.  This happens when I plug an external monitor into my laptop.  Make sure you have the correct "graphics card" selected, aka the second one or lower one because you want to play NCG on your secondary monitor.  Then check to make sure you resolution is correctly selected in the resolution bar.

I hope that was helpful, and not confusing.

That worked, and now I feel dumb.  Thanks for the help.  I was in the properties menu and my gaming monitor was the primary one, I just had to select the other option from the rendering device drop down menu. (It was indeed the same thing twice)

Problem and Solution: Maybe the safest Nvidia drivers for Wreckfest Build #7 are the 344.75 Nvidia drivers.

Seem some Nvidia drivers, match with some Nvidia video cards can't run Build #7 64bit version.

http://community.bugbeargames.com/index.php/topic,8178.0.html

I had WF working fine on Win7 32 bits, than upgrated to 64bit, and now the game is crashing after a few seconds seeing garage... both 32 and 64 bits versions. I removed the folder as you said and try everything else i could find but still wont work.
(wreckfest reinstalled, and new install of Empyrion same video problem)

- settings all minimum
- Full upgrated W7 64 bits (W10 ready)
- newest Nvidia drive 355.60 on Nvidia Geforce GTX 460 v2
- DX11

HELP  :'(

But now:

I installed the 344.75 nvidia driver and now everything works fine, both 32 and 64 bits. So, be aware that the newest drive (355.XX) from nvidia didnt work AT ALL for me !

I just installed a new 960 to replace my 660 and Wreckfest still running fine with the  Nvidia 355.82 drivers.

Got my 960 4GB video card today. The 960 a heavier and longer video card than the 660. Did some benchmarking of Wreckfest and Mad Max so I can see what kind of FPS increase the new 960 give me over my old 660.

I used Display Driver Uninstaller to get rid of my old drivers and went with the new Nvidia 355.82 drivers.

I can report my computer survive the upgrade process ( got rid them dust bunnies for another year! ) and Wreckfest and Mad Max still run.  :D

Here the benchmarks I got using Fraps with the 660:

2015-09-02 14:40:20 - Wreckfest_x64 Gravel track
Frames: 7912 - Time: 200000ms - Avg: 39.560 - Min: 23 - Max: 53  1280x960 max 2xMSAA

2015-09-02 14:50:40 - MadMax  Outer Graves
Frames: 10822 - Time: 200000ms - Avg: 54.110 - Min: 35 - Max: 63 1600x1200 Ultra high

Here the benchmarks I got using Fraps with the 960:

2015-09-02 19:40:36 - Wreckfest_x64
Frames: 10292 - Time: 200000ms - Avg: 51.460 - Min: 31 - Max: 66  1280x960 max 2xMSAA

2015-09-02 21:55:45 - MadMax
Frames: 11976 - Time: 200000ms - Avg: 59.880 - Min: 52 - Max: 63  1600x1200  960 Ultra high

In Mad Max the 960 got me about a 6 FPS increase in avg FPS. In Wreckfest the 960 got me about a 12 FPS increase in avg FPS.

I hope I can now run Wreckfest at 1600x1200 now and keep FPS above 40 FPS.

Edit:

2015-09-02 23:40:45 - Wreckfest_x64
Frames: 9013 - Time: 200000ms - Avg: 45.065 - Min: 27 - Max: 57  1600x1200 max 2xMSAA

Problem: Logitech WingMan wheel not working
I play with a Logitech WingMan wheel, no problems after the hotfix. The force feedback is a bit 'mild' but other than that, it functions perfecty. I had to install the Logitech profiler to get it work, I did not have to do that for any other games I've played with the wheel.
Strangely, now it works even if the profiler isn't running, but I'm not sure how that works, maybe it's just a one time setup.

Solution:
Install Logitech profiler. I would get newest version. Need to download Logitech Gaming Software for your version of Windows to get Logitech profiler program.

Problem: Car is stuck at full throttle and full left on race restarts
same problem https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cu_TNWEn2kY&feature=youtu.be

I bought game yesterday, played few events and thats it.. im stuck and cant move forward without help of other cars.. reverse is working well
I tryed every car setup, without solution.. reinstal game helped but again only for few events.

Solution:
If you have other than XBox360 controllers, try remapping steering, brake and accelerator (with some controllers the default mappings are guessed incorrectly causing stuff like seen in the video). Also, if you have multiple controllers (e.g. separete wheel and pedals), map dummy keyboard buttons to pedals' steering and wheel's brake/accel to make sure they don't interfere with each other.

Thank you for the reply, this worked for me. Both joystick and pedals are now mapped to keyboard keys and I can play more than one race without unplugging them before :)

Problem: Blurred graphics?
OK so liking the gameplay and it would be perfect - except for one thing...

The tires and the environment seem nice and sharp but the body of the cars paint looks blurred - I have tried everything but still nothing makes it go away. I have it set to correct resolution etc and even turned AA off too. This is what I got...

Screenshot taken in window mode with a lower res but looks the same everything else I tried.

Thanks

Solution:
Well - not defaulted windows 7 as such more defaulted my AMD Catalyst Control Center.

I navigated to AMD Catalyst Control Center -> preferences menu -> Restore Factory Defaults

This does delete all game profiles you have already created - but I just added mine back in (10 minute job)

Something to note on this too it make sure you disable anti-aliasing in the control center too - else the game will be white and distorted. This is not the in-game settings but the video card control panel!!

Further note - restoring to factory settings worked - but even when I set the settings manually myself this did not work. Only resetting using the preference option worked.

Cheers,
Jim

Hi all, so I am getting a crash to desktop since this new update. Get the splash screen, then instant desktop with basic stopped working message on windows 8.1. tried a reinstall and updating to newest beta AMD drivers. Anyone else had this issue?

Solution:
Right,  fixed!! Tur s out it amd the problem with battlefield 4 were the same. It was comodo isolating and sandboxing it!! Sorry all.

Seem Comodo is an antivirus program causing trouble with NCG.

Problem: game crashes
Game crashes when starting game, no error displayed

Installing latest July update to "fresh" computer and not able to start game with ASUS GTX 560 DirectCU II TOP (non-ti). After going to Steam > NCG > Play > choosing settings, game will attempt to start: briefly Next car game title (game's normal black loading screen) is shown 1-2 seconds, but then window / game just closes without getting to the game main menu. No error message displayed

Attempted to start game with minimum settings (windowed, non-windowed, vsync on and off), still force exiting while trying to start game:
See attachement: main_options_src.jpg

Fix attempts so far:

1) Restarted machine
=> same issue continues

2) Followed all troubleshooting instructions available in steam:  https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7143-WUGK-0156
- Verified game cache: ok
- installed DIRECTX package that comes with game:
\Bugbear Entertainment\_CommonRedist\DirectX\Jun2010\DXSETUP.exe
- Restarted machine.
=> same issue continues

3) After that, installed latest Directx -driver from NVIDIA web site (337.88-desktop-win8-win7-winvista-64bit-english-whql.exe), Restarted machine => same issue continues

4) Disabled network access, Avast + Comodo firewall => same issue continues

My system specs (from dxdiag):
See attachement speksit.txt

Previous update of the game was working ok with my setup. Before installing this latest NCG game version from Steam, I uninstalled whole steam and reinstalled steam to other drive. Otherwise my setup is the same as it was with ok-working previous version of NCG game. Another steam game plays ok (although it's only directx version 9 i guess..)

Solution: anti virus the problem
Okie, problem solved (it provenly helps to describe the issue for one to find still one missing check etc.  ;) )

1) re-installed game from Steam
2) defined to Avast autosand-box that:
DRIVE:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Bugbear Entertainment\Next Car Game.exe  => should be excluded and never to be auto-sandboxed.
(settings is in Avast > File shield > Settings > Autosandbox)

One of those did the trick and got game started after all!

Problem: Tarmac track doesn't work with highest texture setting
Tarmac track seems to work with medium textures but once i turn to highest it stops working. I have R9 290 with latest catalyst installed. There was problem with the track at highest texture setting before latest patch (and new catalyst version) too; frame rates dropped to 1-2 fps and were fragmented. This time black screen and after few seconds it crashed. Issue seems to be AMD graphics card related as in thread i posted back then there were multiple amd card owners but none nvidia.http://community.bugbeargames.com/index.php/topic,5575.msg48853.html#msg48853

This is not huge issue as medium texture setting works, but it's weird that all other tracks i have tried with highest setting (all settings maxed @ 1440p) work without problems at acceptable frame rates. So please get it working  8)

edit.
Just tried without vertical sync and all seems to work. Vsync seems to be the cause; funny it works with other tracks i tried.

Problem: FPS drop using steering wheel (sidewinder) *devs plz fix
Know issue that i would love to get fixed for this game is the FPS drop that accurs when using an old steering wheel like Microsoft sidewinder forcefeedback. (known to be more) but this just drives me nuts sinse the wheel works with all of the flatout games i wounder why it dont work for NCG:W it only works with keybord for me. And it so frustrating driving with a keybord when you have been playing with a racing wheel for every racing game. (lower the quality does not help it)

This might have been stated before by the devs or the community but i would REALLY wish that the devs could fix this. my wheel even worked on their "10 year old" game they realesed for free for us to download a while back.

Please DEVS fix this :(

This was a problem for me early on and there was a folder you could delete that fixed it, but I can't find the thread with the solution in now.

Problem: Always massive lag
ISSUE
As topic says, I got massive lag no matter what I do, both singleplayer and multiplayer...

DESCRIPTION
I'm running lowest graphic settings, I've tried playing without any opponents and without my g27 steering wheel. I still get these lags where the game feels my steering 0.5-2 seconds late and sometimes I get this, which we can compare with watching a scratched dvd, it hacks forward... These lags started coming after the multiplayer update, before that it ran smooth as silk on highest graphic, 24 bots and with my steeringwheel...

I'll just leave this here:

This has been reported once or twice before, but we have difficult time in reproducing it here. IIRC, a work-around is to Alt+Tab out of the game and then back in again. You could also check if removing all game controllers and restarting game fixes it. Btw, what kind of mouse do you have?

Problem: Can no longer run Wreckfest...
When I originally bought Wreckfest a few weeks ago everything was working fine.  No issues.

Then, last week the game will no longer start.  I get no errors at all.  In Task Manager, I see the game "start" but immediately stop.  Nothing ever comes on screen.

Is there anyway to tell why this process is stopping like this via a log or some other way?

This is the only game I have that does this.  Not sure what is going on.

I have uninstalled the game, validated I deleted any lingering data, reinstalled and still cannot get the game to start.

Any ideas?

Well, just because I decided to re-do DirectX again via the MS link....after that it seems to work again.

Solution:
Solution------I was able to fix by right clicking on the game in steam opening properties menu clicking on launch options under the general menu then type "autoconfig" into the box and hit ok.This also worked on other games not launching.

Here link to the Steam telling about "autoconfig":

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=1216-JMTZ-0860

How do I set the autoconfig launch option?

The -autoconfig launch option will allow Steam to configure a Valve/Source game with the best settings for use on your machine.

    Open Steam
    Go to the "Library"
Right-click the game which needs to be reconfigured
    Select "Properties" from the menu
Click the "Set launch options..." button
Remove any launch options currently shown.
    Type -autoconfig in the box.

You can also use -safe to force safe mode.

When you do a search for 228380 now, do you see the /228380 folder under Steam folder?

You got it! I downgraded from the current driver (AMD Catalyst Omega v.14.12) to an older driver (AMD Catalyst v.14.11.2 Beta) and that solved the problem!
I now have the userdata folder 228380 now that the game is running as well.
Thank you for your help and patience, and I'll see you in game. :)

Problem:   (Solved) Game Crashes on Launch with RX 480
Hey Wreckfest community,

I just upgraded to a new AMD RX480 video card and discovered I can no longer get the 64-bit version of Wreckfest to launch. It doesn't get to the graphics settings windows or main menu, crashes out before that. I'm not using any mods (never have but double checked and made sure a modlist.mods file did not exist in my userdata folder) and have verified the integrity of the game cache. The 32-bit version of the game launches with no issues as well as the sneak peak & Throw-a-Santa. Before the RX480 I was running a Radeon HD 6870 and didn't have any problems running the 64-bit version. I don't thing anything else has changed since the last time I played the game (except installing Dirt Rally). Any help would be appreciated.

System Info:
Intel Core i7-6700 @ 3.40 GHz
AMD Radeon RX 480
Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Gaming 7
16GB RAM
Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
PS3 controller via USB using SCPTookit
Logitech G29 Driving Force Racing Wheel

AMD Driver Info:

AMD Mantle API Version - 98309
AMD Audio Driver Version - 10.0.0.3
Vulkan Driver Version - 1.2.0
Vulkan API Version - 1.0.17

Solution:
Finally got the 64-bit version working. I uninstalled the Radeon drivers (16.7.3), Swapped the 6870 back into the system, installed the drivers for for the card, launched the game = no problem. Uninstalled 6870 drivers, swapped the RX 480 into the system, installed the Radeon 16.7.3 drivers, launched the game = no problem. So I guess I should have completely removed the video drivers and re-installed them. Probably didn't need to reinstall the 6870.

Game looks pretty good. Hitting 50-80 fps with everything on max, MSAA set to 4x and doing 24 car races. Haven't tried multiplayer yet.

If all else fails to get Wreckfest to start, try this:

Problem:  Game won't launch?
I'm in the same boat here .

I can't get it to launch no matter what I try.

new game install done that 3 times
directx drivers installed and updated
delete steam userdata 228380 many times
new graphics card drivers
No antivirus blocking the game .
Disabled Aero

It just crashes both versions with a wreckfest.exe/wreckfest_x64.exe  has stopped working .

If you guys have any new ideas let me know, otherwise I'll just wait for the next update.

Thanks

Solution:
Thanks for the help

I reinstalled the game on my primary drive c:\ (same drive as steam is installed) and now it works .

so after all that effort it was something fairly simple to fix

Thanks again for your help and I hope this might help some others out there.

Now I'm off to play , yay ;-)

I got a really annoying mouse glitch. When I start the game up mouse will go completely nuts and jump between "leaderboards" and "menu" in upper side of the screen. Only alt-tab fixes the problem temporarily but then it comes back and from time to time gets stuck to "X" on random opened menu.

You got any devices pluged in to USB ports that Wreckfest might be picking up on and causing trouble?

Solution:

Quote from: Blue Shark~Vault Boy /CZE/;535152511362325373
Nope, but thanks. It gave me the idea if it isn't caused by some other program messing up the input. It was. Deleted it and works fine now.

For the love of god tell me what program! I have the mouse bug also.

For me it was program called Vjoy. It's something that emulates gamepad on your M&K. So I suppose it must be caused by programs that mess with the input. You just need to find out what causes the problem on your end.

Problem:  decrease fps + stuttering on 4790k and gtx 980
If I'm wrong section, I apologize to the mod. I have a 4790k, a gtx 980 and 8gb of ram, resolution monitor 1440x900. There are drop fps + stuttering in some moments of the game. For example, in sandpit 2 sunset, before the race, when the camera flies over the 24 car, I see the drops in fps disappearing soon after. Sometimes, during the race, when cars collide, this is the short stuttering disappears almost immediately. To my resolution, I do not believe to be limited or it is a problem of paging file. The problem may be due to poor optimizationof the early access? Has anyone encountered this short drops fps?

Solution:
I chose the adaptive because without vsync i had tearing, with v-sync in-game i had stuttering. For my monitor (60 hz) adaptive is perfect on each track and 24 cars.

*********************************

Problem:   Pink textures and out of vertex memory error
When I start the game everything but the car is pink and un-textured. When I first started the game it crashed with an Error "Out of vertex buffer memory". I toned down the graphic settings to minimum. Then the race loaded but everything on the track was also pink and untextured.

Core i5-2500 3.30ghz
8gb Ram
Amd Radeon HD 6900
1gb video memory
Windows10 64-bit

Solution:
You should start to look the fault from the game's files, so firstly, try to verify the game file catche from Steam. If that doesn't work, delete the gamefiles and reinstall it completely. After that, if the fault is still there, you should start to look up the fault elsewhere.

Re-installing worked. Thanks! :)

Problem:  G27 Steering Offset
Quote from: NoooneyDude
The G27 steering wheel is offset to the left by 50 percent. That is, the "Test Steering" variable in the Wreckfest wheel settings tab is set to -50 %, instead of 0 %, while the wheel is centred. This means I have to hold the wheel offcentre to drive straight. Since -50 percent is centre, I have between -100 and -50 to turn left with, and -50 to 100 percent to turn right, as such amount of turning required is different to the other side.

The wheel tracks perfectly and the centre is detected correctly in the windows gamepad settings window, and works fine in other games.

Anyone know what's going on here?

Solution:
Quote from: NoooneyDude;351660338731226740
Well, apparently it was a simple matter of calibration.

This post here    set me straight.

Picked up the product today and enjoy it thus far but I have noticed that getting the wheel to work in the first place is awkward.

I use a Saitek R440 and noticed that when I'm setting the controller inputs I need to zero the pedals and center the wheel before binding them. This wasn't a step the menu suggested or even hinted at that I could see and, perhaps obviously, immediately after assigning left steering I'm going to go straight to assigning right and not think to carefully recenter the wheel first. The upshot was that the car was veering to one side constantly.  To rectify the issue I had to rebind the controls, carefully recentering the wheel before I assigned each steering axis.

That aside, a minor additional gripe, why can't I assign reset car to the wheel? Why do I have to let go and go to the keyboard, open the menu and *then* reset the car?

The only other issue I noticed was that by default the throttle was unusually sensitive and the force feedback was too heavy but that could just be specific to the Saitek and was quickly adjusted.

I assumed the keybinding only looks at the axes, not also the degree on the axis. This is the keybinding under the Controls (as opposed to the Advanced) tab. I also would have thought renaming device.cfg would affect this, but not so.

Thanks guys, problem solved.

Problem: Game crash when i try go settings
(I know I'm reviving an old topic but the issue is identical.)

I can start the game and race and everything looks fine, but as soon as I go to Menu -> Settings the game crashes with a standard Windows popup: "Wreckfest_x64.exe has stopped working".

No logs can be found except for the windows event log.
(I've searched for "Report.*" which was mentioned in another thread but couldn't find the file.)

What I have tried so far:
* Updated to latest graphics drivers.
* Tested with and without the G29 racing wheel.
* Deleted ...\Steam\userdata\...\...\local\wreckfest early access
* Verified integrity of game files via Steam.
* Tried different resolutions and graphics settings by first deleting settings.conf in folder mentioned above and changing the settings in the popup before the game starts.
* 32 bit version, 64 bit version.

I don't have this issue in any other game.

Thankful for assistance.

Solution:
If right click Wreckfest in Steam library and click properties and then click set launch options and add -setup. This will bring up the graphic settings window before came starts.

It's FIXED!
There was a windows update that I had to trigger manually called "Windows Creators Update".
I installed it and ntdll.dll got updated, this in turn fixed the issue!

Thank you for helping out. :-)
