Would love to see some scripting opportunities, sadly I have no ideas on what could such type of game expose :(

GTAs been called out, but they with their sandboxness have much more opportunities. Here, I literally have no ideas.

Ah, I've got it now. My fault for trying to follow a Youtube vid for a different game rather than read the docs ;)

Got my first files out, just playing with them now, hopefully will be able to get the first effort back into game tomorrow!

Turns out I finished far enough to put something up tonight  :D

So I give you the American Sedan NYC Taxi!

I'm not wild about how the checkers fit the car but I thought it would be better to follow the more solid trim lines than the shape of the body, since the two do not run parallel.

Also the paint is a little too lemon, it needs to be more golden I think. I haven't played with the hex values though, this is just the Paint Style 1 default.

I still need to do the damaged version, then I'll see if I can get some racing screenshots  8)

Looks like a nice start. You dont have to use the hex values unless you want specular. You can paint the base directly onto the alpha and it will overlay the base colour. Thats how the 2 tone blue/yellow sedan and 2 tone blue euro styles work.
For the damage ive found a completely clean version and then bugbears default rough version as damaged looks nice.As if the paint is chipping off.Change the clean bump map to also match the rough version and you end up with a car that looks rotten but freshly painted over the rust and the paint chips off to show rust when damaged.

e.g

After a very quick google I'm going to go ahead and assume that specular light means more reflections rather than a matt finish?

I grabbed the default skins from the garage then copied out any transparent panels to make one rusty but undecorated blank canvas. Then went in under the rust layer to add new decals, as well as copy in some existing ones to empty spaces so it fit the general aesthetic.

I will probably stick with the hex colours of the original cars for this one, it's close enough and a reflective surface would be nice. My next idea will be a matt finish though :)

Thanks for the tips!

Sam/Jaycee what method you use to start game? My Umod doesn't work.

I had to use Method 3 with the .dll file to make it work, I couldn't get it to run with the first couple, although it sounds like Sam could.

Quote
Method 3
Let the game load our dll.

copy our d3d9.dll into the games directory.
start uMod
start the game (e.g. double click on the desktop icon)
