The Hotline Miami soundtrack has some neat electronic pieces that could suit driving as well. I wonder if some more rather unknown artists could be put on board to broaden the diversity. I thought the Flatout 1 soundtrack was interesting, but most soundtracks I couldn't listen to anymore after driving, because of the singing involved. So yea, try to find some good music and also look for not so popular artists. It could pay off for you and them.

Popular soundtracks are a sure bet, but I guess they could drive the license costs up. No idea.

For an example what I could imagine driving to, check out the one called "Knock" from the game I mentioned.

A broad and diverse soundtrack with also the ability to manage your ingame playlist and add your own music would be a welcoming feature. Disabling and/or adding music would be great. Don't add folk music though.  >:(

Long time Flatout fan, first time poster here.

Hmmm. Soundtrack ideas?

LCD Soundsystem (of course, nice beats that have that Talking Heads-style tribal beat to them...)
Lorn (dark but groovy stuff)
Phantogram (Electro/Indie, modern day Garbage)
Sweatmaster (because they need more money)
Other Lives (folksy I know, but a great and dusty sound for menus for example)
Miles Kane (brit indie produced by dan the automator, "Inhaler" is a wicked track for a fast paced gaming moment)
Nicole Willis (soul and trashing cars go together like Finland and soul music, eh?)
Doves ("Compulsion" has such a wicked bassline it belongs to a game, make it happen!)

Some suggestions there, the artists are not too big for those cheap licensing costs :)

"Hell Yeah" by Rev Theory
"Take Em Out" by Rev Theory
then "Light It Up" from Nascar 09... but, not for this game. Or yes?

Heh, I'm posting on this thread again...  :P

What do you guys think of Autopilot Off? I hear they reformed last year, so maybe some of their songs would help spread a bit of their existence  :D

Most of the guys suggest adrenaline/hard/brutal music. Well, it's fair enough for such game  ;D
But since it's the game about "cheap, rusty, banged-up cars" there can be country, folk & work music  :)
Here's perfect example
(SpiderBait - Black Betty) but it don't have to be that rock-ed. For menu you can use some slow song. Just imagine: shed, cows make sounds, chickens plays on a wrecked car & you hear
'Toy Story 2 - Al's Penthouse'
  8) I saw something similar in
Gas Guzzlers
.

No, it's in Need For Speed Most Wanted 2012 and I don't like it.
