Backwoods and offroad racing is great, but doing so with trucks would be better. Hoping for at least one type of truck in the final release.

Here's a video of stadium super trucks racing in Australia this year, I've been following the series a little and it's got me hooked. What do you guys think?

I've been following SST since last year's season, and Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing series for a little while before that. It is absolutely some of the best racing broadcast today, and this topic was one of the first thoughts in my head when I started playing this game.

Fixed video embed, what an end this one had. You could post any race though and it's this good:

Those trucks look like they be fun to race in Wreckfest. Was surprise to see frame twist to let one the front wheels come off the ground in the turns.  :o

Watching videos give me the idea to put jump ramps and chicane barriers that are in the videos, in a custom track. Will bookmark this thread for track ideas.  :)

Was curious to see some trucks go around the jumps. Is the driver penalize for doing that?

That's not the frame twisting, that's almost a meter of rear suspension travel and something like 600HP. They're space frame beasts, I'm honestly shocked at what it seems to take to really bend one.

If you can't make a jump safely you wouldn't be penalized I would think, but probably can't take positions that way. Who wants to avoid jumps, anyway?

They're very creative with courses, too: sometimes they'll piggyback another event and just put chicanes and jumps on a racetrack, sometimes they'll just build a course out of those same barriers and jumps in a parking lot, sometimes it's a stadium or outdoor dirt track, they'll put something together almost anywhere.

And if that's all a bit too bourgeois, there's always Bro-Lite, spec-Ford Ranger:

Yes! It happens once or twice in the video I posted where for example 3 trucks wide were going on the jump and that would have been unsafe on the landing, the announcer stated that the truck would not be penalized in that case. Usually however, skipping a jump means you must forfeit your position to the truck behind you.

Thanks for info. :)

Guess I will make my jumps as wide as the track when I get to do custom tracks for Wreckfest.

Them AI may have troubles with the chicanes thou.  :P

Maybe we just get back to chair and think what really match between all the other cars.

There is lot of different type of motorsport and who knows we will see in future a NCG: Stadium trucks

I dont know much about them other than the odd video that pops up, and a facebook friend is also developing a unity game featuring them.

Are these all identical space frames? Contact is allowed?
If identical or almost they are pretty much a 'super class'. Kinda like what F1 Stockcars are to short oval racing

Could make a for a cool super class DLC. Sprint cars/f1 stock cars/stadium trucks etc. Specialisation needs someone on the dev team who is interested in these motor sports though, for an accurate representation.

Yep, spec chassis, made by Traxxas I believe. I don't think there's engine/trans variation either, unlike the Lucas series which has some running different hardware. Very strong trucks, over a season full of massive crashes, I think I've seen only one or two damaged enough to need to leave the race.

Contact means something different between the US and UK, I think. It is "allowed" in this series but insofar as it supports a good race. Spinning or shoving another driver off the track would definitely be frowned upon, but there ain't nothing wrong with a little bump and grind. I'm just looking at the wiki for BriSCA F1 stock cars, and yeah, I can't think of a racing series here where "punting" is encouraged, but if there is I do want to watch it.
