Q: How to make the game load stuff from the unpacked folders instead of the .bfs file?

Hello, guys, I have a stupid question. I remember years ago I could unpack the files from the .bfs file in the flatout 2 folder and the game would load from the folder instead of the fo2a.bfs. Basically, I could edit a texture or a value in the folders, then just start the game and see the change without needing to repack anything again. But that method doesn't work now for some reason. Maybe I'm missing something really basic, I honestly don't remember if there were extra steps in the process, it's been years.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Ya Flatout 2 should run unpacked. Also unpack the patch.bfs file for Flatout 2 and let it overwrite old files.

Don't think you can unpack the Flatout 2 FOJ community mod. Mur locked it.

Can load other bfs files that can overwrite some the files, like loading carpack 3 overwrites carpack 1.
