American here...

While it is true that the government does not mandate a certain amount of vacation time, most companies here do offer it. I've been at my current job for a little over three years and I get 3 weeks vacation, 1 week of something they call "family time" which is basically vacation, 1 week of sick time, 3 personal holidays, and all the official company holidays (which are basically our national holidays - something like 9 in all). I am biased, but I consider this to be one of the better companies to work for.

At my previous job I had 3 weeks vacation (plus the usual company holidays) after 5 years on the job, but sick days were not tracked.

Companies that offer little or no benefits are the ones that find employees quitting right and left at the slightest improvements in the economy.

Working at an airport must be strange, I mean it's an enviroment different from any other.
It is different! But probably not exactly like you would imagine. I don't work at a major hub, more of a medium sized airport. From my office window I can see trees and a small lake ;-)

What I find strange of the fact that the government does not enforce vacations is that holidays are good for the economy. Most of the money that I spend is when I'm on holiday or have time off generally speaking.
I understand that in a capitalist economy the govm wants company to be free, so they can be competitive, and it works when the economy works. But most of the times the economy is screwed. :D

Also, employees need to be protected. Companies have way too much power compared to single employees. Thats why strong unions, a high minimum wage and labor agreements are important.

Some of the most successful companies are generous employers. Because they know its worth it. :)

This is getting political now :D (I agree with you by the way)

That's the whole point I think. One of the problems is that nowadays most of the people are not interested in quality.

holidays talk aside (if you don't get holidays at your workplace, you must live quite a depressive life). Some people are just not ready to follow the development of a game. From pre alpha to the final product. Development is not a case of waving a magic wand and giving the players exactly what they wanted. You may notice that i don't have many posts. That's because I'm not about to come and whine about a game that's in development. Nor should anyone else. It should be common knowledge that games take years to build. This time around, like many games coming out in pre alpha, you've paid at the beginning of the journey. Now sit back and wait, while enjoying the great updates that will come along. I hope you all enjoyed your holidays which of coarse was well deserved.

Agreed. I think getting weekly updates from the development team is a great feature that will help keep the NCG community engaged.

I post relatively often here as I see it as kind of my job to bring ideas to the table for consideration. Those that others agree with have a possibility of making it into the game and it makes it better for everyone. Those that others see as bad ideas are dismissed and I am not offended at all.

I am engaged with this forum because it seems that it is full of (mostly) constructive criticism and people working to make it a better game. I (up to this point anyway) have not participated on the forum at Steam because it is full of posters that are expecting a complete game despite all the warnings that it's Pre-Alpha and often the discussions seem to devolve into personal attacks. Here, people seem to be able to disagree and remain respectful.

This new car should be that Saab-Escort. I want more european cars. Anyway, good to see more updates from the team. My pre-order money hard at work :))

Absolutely.
One thing is criticizing with a point, another is whining.

I mean, if you just come to the forum and express your frustration at the devs for taking holidays, it can only mean that you've never worked a single day in your life.
If you come here and express your gaming preferences in a polite and sensible way, that's great.

It's not :p
But, rest assured, more Euro cars are most definitely on their way. We already have a Saab prototype in internal use, so yeah, they'll make their way, eventually :)

Stay home sick? You don't get paid. Period.
We had that here in Europe too.

In the 1800's :D
That must really suck.. thank god we got paid sickdays. It's something you cannot anticipate, and it's not like you want to be sick and stay out from work.
Everyone should have paid sickdays.

Ford granada,volvo 240 estate,jaguar XJ6 series 3 please.
The granada in particular has been a iconic staple of UK/European banger racing for at least the last 20 years mainly due to have many were made, but also because they look cool, have great engines, easy to repair, reasonably strong and are fast.Last years all mk1/2 granada meeting attracted well over 100 mk1/2s even though the last one rolled off the production line 30 years ago (the mk1 even older,1977).

Please dont include any euro shite inspired cars like the beetle,2cv,vauxhalls/citreons/renaults/fiats in general etc. Unless they are truly realistically terrible and race their own class (i.e reliant robin/kitten/rialto/van). Theyre shocking to race, crash and look ugly which is why no one races them.I hope you do your research first and include practical and suitable big European cars like the American styled cars currently in game.

P.s Im referring to old stuff that would fit with the current pre 1985? NCG theme

6/110's are a great car, along with their variants.Austin Westminster,Vanden Plas Princess 3-litre.Ive definitely got a soft spot for a westy.
Im just thinking in terms of practicality mainly versus the current large engined big yanks.Theres many big, luxurious and beautiful euro cars.Bently, jaguar, rolls royce, ford, austin, wolseley, triumph, daimler, volvo, rover to name a few. That i think would fit the bill better than a VW beetle realistically. In multiple categories, size, mass, engine capacity and strength. They could make a super strong 3 litre beetle as its only a game, but whats the point when there are many more suitable cars to draw influence from.

I'm a Herbie fan, but i would like to see the beetle in the Retro demo. Maybe could be the backer car for us early supporters. :)

And confirm again text chat in lobby when we took NCG LAN mod online in July:

Yep, chat will be present for sure! We're currently weighing if there should be a mechanism in place, like a radial menu, where you can quickly select quips and comments while driving. There are problems in that, like spamming and targeting the right player, but we're looking into it.

How about a simple cooldown time?
