Holiday season is an exciting time for everyone, but for us at Bugbear it was even more so. Only a couple of days before Christmas, we released the very first Early Access version of our Next Car Game, with the aim of giving our faithful fans something to enjoy during the holidays.

It was the first time we were going to show the game to everyone, and we were very anxious to hear the feedback, but the game took the Internet by storm: the first Early Access release doubled the sales of the title during the Christmas week! Last autumn, we had a stretch of bad luck with our Kickstarter campaign, and it didn’t reach the goal we were aiming for. Even so, we didn’t lose our faith in the game and wanted to get it in the hands of the players as soon as possible. And thanks to our great supporters, we really couldn’t have asked for a better Christmas present – much to our surprise, we reached and actually topped our original campaign funding goal in just week! Not only that, but the free demo we released a couple of days later has been downloaded over 50,000 times, and the gameplay video posted on the popular Nerd³ Youtube channel has already nearly 500,000 views.

All this is of course a testament to how awesome crowd of supporters we are fortunate enough to have. Although our game is still at a pretty early stage, and as such, contains many missing features and numerous bugs, the players have loved what we already got and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. We’ve already received a plenty of smart suggestions for future improvements, some of which will of course find their way into the final game. During the coming months we’re going to give the game a lot of polish as well as implement new exciting features, and our Early Access supporters have an opportunity to experience the game as it develops and get involved in the development!

PRE-ORDER NOW TO GET EARLY ACCESS!

Early Access is being sold through our own website for now, and all our pre-order supporters get to download the game through Steam immediately. The first release contains two playable cars and three tracks, showcasing both track racing and demolition derby action with 24 cars.

By pre-ordering the game now, not only you get to play right away but also have a chance to get a lot of cool exclusive extras like technology sneak peek, special supporter car and your name in the game – and what’s best, you get all this for a special, reduced price!

FREE SNEAK PEEK

Don’t forget that the free version of Next Car Game technology sneak peek is still available through our website! With already over 50.000 downloads and counting, countless players around the world are already wreaking havoc in our destructive sandbox! Make sure you’re not left behind!

The free version contains a limited version of the playground scene that we use internally to test various features like car damage and environment destruction. What’s best, by pre-ordering Next Car Game you get access to the full version of the sneak peek with a lot additional cool content for the demo like physics cannon with explosive missiles, new destructive machinery, more spectacular stunts and a ton of dynamic stuff to blow up!

BEHIND THE SCENES: JUNKYARD VISIT

Quite recently we did a little field trip to a local junkyard to take a look at what extreme car damage really means. We learned a lot, and the guys at the junkyard got to have some real fun by showing us how to give a car some real punishment. So as far as we’re concerned everybody won! If you still haven’t had a chance to check out the video from our field day, check it out below:

Congratz Bugbear Entertainment! I'm glad that finally there is a full contact racing game that truly highlights the destructibility of the events. You guys did a fantastic job thus far, and I look forward to what you have to show off in the years to come. :D

Glad to hear Bugbear got a nice Christmas present for giving us Flatout fans a Christmas present before Christmas with the pre-alpha! :D

It's all really thanks to you guys since we really couldn't have done it without you. Not only you've been pushing us to make the best possible racing game for ye olde FlatOut aficionados and the like-minded, you've been spreading the word, posting screenshots, making videos and so on, effectively making sure almost everyone even remotely interested is aware of the game. Like I think I've said before, games should be made to their players, and a game without players is as good as no game.

And a Christmas present for us? For sure! Everything we've heard said about the game, we couldn't have asked for more.

Awesome work so far Bugbear! :) When I heard the Early Access being released on Steam, I couldnt wait to download it!
The Early access build is so much fun, Ive had so many epic moments during the game but unfortunately I never have the luck of recording it. As you probably know, recording game footage at a good detail level with apps like Fraps takes up alot of memory and I always seem to have great moments when Im not recording.

If you could make the race replay feature really comprehensive in the final game so these moments never get missed as the player could enable Fraps during the replay and capture the moment from different angles to make some awesome videos. Could it be possible to maybe have an option to save/export replays ingame so they can be watched later again and again?

Love the game Bugbear, the work you have done is fantastic.

Hi BugBear,
now that you have a lot of backers and an amount surpassing the Kickstarter goal, I think you should bring the stretch goals you had planned for Kickstarter campaing to your page to get even more backers by showing what will be added to the game if we meet certain goals. Looking at the growth in last weeks, you have a chance to reach 1M dollars at least.

Damn thats good.

Have a Question:
If you were lucky with the kickstarter, what were the Stretchgoals?
Are these still reachable? (I´m sure with hit the first one already)

Oh wow that's great! Congratz here too for you guys! We had a great time with Steam pre-release with wheel game controller (Logitech DRIVING FORCE GT) !

l have few questions: when next update? What if I want to rise my game to better one (was it badgeds..?)? Will there be bigger control support later that example game will regonize my logitech gamepad?

Hienoa työtä! :)

Hope you make the best destruction game ever for us! I'm very confident you will deliver.

It's also great to think that you're finally free from publishers or forced shitty platforms like GFWL.

This is gonna be the game to keep, evolve, upgrade and nurture for fans of this kind of racing games

Keep it real! ;P

Played the early acces version of the game and it looks and plays jaw dropping good!
So much attention to detail of the cars and it runs perfectly on my machine. Didn't run in into any issues besides some known issues!
This game just breathes quality and dedication I haven't seen a long time in games! Keep up the good work!

Great to hear that BB, you deserve it! The game is already loads of fun, so it can only get better with your experience.

All the best for the new year!

Well, so it turned out that when a zillion people said that BB needed to release something in order to achieve some popularity... they were right.

I'm glad the game is selling, I really hope the trend goes on.

Not much to say. Great that you believe in what you do. Some developers would have surely gave in if their Kickstarter had failed. But you guys showed that well-known Finnish Sisu and didn't abandon the project.

Btw that "car" in the end of the Car damage research video looks exactly same as those car wrecks in the Tech Demo. :D

I've lost interest in games past seven years, I've been told it's because i'm just old nagger (I was in teens, lol), but I knew it's not me who changed, it was games. Now I feel like it's renaissance in gaming with all those awesome independent projects that coming to replace dark age of xbox marketing.

NCG is just getting what it deserves for being awesome.

I've seen gameplay of this awesome, btw Bugbear keep up the awesome project :)

But it seems like the cars have higher defence than in the tech demo.

Will it be like this in the release, later on?
