Weekly Report #13

From Italy
Full time wrecker
What you might do is to post videos of particularly interesting/funny bugs, With some developer commentary, something like "Bug Hunting with BugBear"

So Bugbear, our list of priorities

1. Post news updates here
2. Respond to the million queries, questions and complaints posted in response to your posts
3. Make videos of your bugs
4. Record commentaries on the videos
5. Upload the videos to video sites
6. Physics engine
6. Establish a source control and branching system so you can push a few minor updates out before the physics engine
7. Physics engine

Oh and by the way, where's the update? Why haven't you finished the physics engine yet?!

Well BugBear, at least I got one thing crossed off of the list for a couple of minutes!

Although, a couple of recent posts suggest you will need to remind certain individuals about things more than once every day. I'm as dry as they come and even I can't tell which ones are sarcasm anymore. I'll at least assume the quoted list is, so allow me to run with it: Why not try allocating 90% of everyones' time to responding to questions in this forum? ;)

Yes absolutely. We don't have enough proof that they're working on it. We need everyone on the staff to spam the forums with exactly what they're doing at all times! Cameras in the office that we can watch live streams of, we need to see the documented hours each staff member puts in. And a cute little top hat. That would make me happy.

Haha!!! A top Hat on Sir Jori would be really cute! lmdao!!!

But due to Bugbears mysterious ways... I doubt we will ever have the luxury to have them set up some live streaming webcams.

They seem to be very private in their ways... Which I can fully understand, since they were screwed by a couple past resources unfortunately. I respect how they go about their business, and will not push them into areas they feel uncomfortable with.

I rest my case. How can you accuse them of lying and such when they'd do random stuff like that just to get a laugh out of the crowd?

Haha that's dangerous. I'd vote for Kim Jong Un for world dictator if he looked like that!

Hmm, Bugbears competitive colleagues over at Codemasters are also working on revamping their EGO engine (with the biggest improvement of all: physics) to a new and improved version, but they have been working on it for almost 2-3 years now, ready to be released this June with the new F1 2015 game. But they have a way bigger team to make it real, bugbear is a small team of badasses that now try to make a physics engine to push out the door as soon as the first 'stable' version is realized.

I think the stress and pressure BugBear has put on themselves is enormous, meanwhile the stress and pressure from the community is not helping the case and truth to be told, they made some big mistakes along the way that resulted in the pressure from the community. I hope for the best after all this time! But 7-8 months compared to the 2-3 years of Codemasters... We could be looking at a few more months of coding for BugBears physics engine.

Bugbear is better in coding because even the ROMU in sneak peek had better physics than Codemasters engines :pPPP
(Don't give me any facts on how Codies engine may be better because I wanna live in my possible bubble.)

What are they supposed to say? "We've got the update ready in 10 mins." *after 10 mins* "Haahaa rickrolled."

I believe in you, guys ! 8)
Cause GTA 5 is coming next week for pc. ;)
So... relax ! Many people have to do other things in the next weeks and months instead of waiting for an awesome update. :)

Lol it's the worst one since Liberty City Stories.
(I've played them all so yeah, believe me it sucks compared to the earlier ones)

That's a fair point. I'd love to see some screenshots too about the development itself.

I would have no idea how the EGO engine would stack up against the ROMU engine honestly, haha.
I do know that the EGO engine was very capable of damage and softbody physics, but was very restricted and limited in the game itself. You could see how it works in GRID 1 derby races to some extent. Dirt: Showdown is just a complete mess that should not be named...

I love the EGO engine for one thing and that is the netcode. It is extremely accurate and fast for an engine that can do a lot and still keep the connection amazing. It is also what I love about the ROMU engine (Flatout: Ultimate Carnage multiplayer). I generally love race engines with good netcodes, hahaha.

Wow. Bugbear have a Dickensian prop cupboard. Or do you just upload Dickensian values? Is your physics engine actually being implemented by a bunch of orphans in a strictly run workhouse? Is it Dothephysics Hall?
