HIGHLIGHTS
  • New tournament: Woodland Dash
  • New routes for Pinehills Raceway
  • New free reward car: Hammerhead RS
  • 60fps/4K support on Xbox Series X
  • Improvements and bug fixes
We're beyond thrilled to announce the availability of a new tournament!

For the past month or so, you've been storming the Wrecknado and weathering the whirlwind of destruction unleashed by the hurricane of crashes, and while wrecking is always super fun, nothing's better than changing gears every now and then to keep things fresh. That's right - time to slip on your slickest racing boots again!

This time we're taking you back to Pinehills Raceway, and it's all about speed and skill. You'll be competing with the new smoking hot, race-prepped Hammerhead RS reward car in various racing and slalom events, all taking place on various Pinehills Raceway routes including even some brand new ones that the community has been asking for. And sure enough, everyone's favorite explosive barrels make a return too in the slalom events so watch out! And who knows, there might be a snowy surprise or two during the tournament too...

We also have good news for the owners of the new, shiny Xbox One Series X. We're happy to let you know that we have added specific support for this serious piece of hardware, meaning that from now on you get to enjoy Wreckfest rendered at 60fps in the full glory of 4K. Obviously 60fps makes a significant difference in a racing game, so if you're lucky enough to own a Series X what are you waiting for!

We're also actively working on improving the gameplay experience based on your feedback, and this release contains a number of additional enhancements and bug fixes. Worth a note in particular is that we're now confident that the leaderboard tournament events should now work more reliably on Xbox so hopefully no one will be missing out on their rewards from now on. Please do note that updating tournament info (rankings, rewards) might still take some time, but it should no longer fail completely. This time around we've also concentrated on addressing numerous issues with the vehicles as highlighted in the community feedback, but we invite you to check out the release notes below for a complete summary of items fixed or improved upon. Thanks for all the feedback, please keep it coming in!

Full time wrecker
Was hoping the step van would be taken out of special vehicles class and and allowed Armour upgrades.

Pinehills Rally is excellent, no doubt about it.
Hammerhead RS feels very fast on first impression, we'll see about laptimes. I'm always happy to see a new variant of a "raked" car but with equal suspension travel front and rear. Paint options are spot-on.
Looking forward to give the Blade another chance.
Generally really excited to see a racing-themed update, two thumbs up!

But it wouldn't be me if I didn't find something to "complain" about - please just remember this comes from enthusiasm for the game, I have no intention of antagonizing anyone.

The game randomly froze during a solo 10 lap time attack with Hammerhead RS on Pinehills Rally. No error message, just blackscreen and "stuck" game sound. Also no indication of an error from Radeon Software. Veryfying game files via Steam didn't bring up any broken files. Until then it ran flawlessly for the last six months or so.

There has been a trend with Razor, Cardinal, Raven and Blade to integrate bumper upgrades into the stock bumper, which looks nice. Hammerhead RS bumper upgrades remove the stock bumper.

  • Removed painted panels from the default Starbest SS paint.

Maybe I'm misinterpreting patchnotes, but the painted panels are still there for me.
Also, the Starbeast SS is still weak in C and B class (as in, weaker than the regular Starbeast). It has peak power and torque higher up in the rev range and nothing to compensate for it.

I think it makes sense to classify the Step Van the same as the Motorhome. Thanks for buffing the Little Trasher BB. Really looking forward for the final DLC pack of Season Pass 2 and someday a FPS-boost for the Playstation.

Overall amazing update, you nailed it again. Haven’t been exciting about a racing game since.. well you know since when (after checking my new avatar) ♡

I remember doing a separate bug report about this, making a video, and for good reason) The developers fixed this, and fixed it well, now you can freely ride on this pickup and think about the road, and not about what you need to control the car so that it does not roll over. Amazing! I think it will soon come to the rest of the bug reports, and the fact that the problems are being fixed cannot but rejoice me. In general, the update is very good, no special vehicles and annoying eights, but a lively Pinnehills Raceway and a very beautiful Hammerhead RS car. Oh, how I missed such tracks, difficult, and from this no less interesting. Riding all evening getting tons of fun. Although I'm not a wagon fan, the Hammerhead RS is a very cool car, and very competitive. Not imba, but you can break records! Respect to the developers, pleased the picky old man :)

Why 4k instead of 60fps on Series S, lol? I waited specifically to play this game someday on my Series S in 60fps. It didnt matter to me whether through fps boost or a dedicated patch. But I never imagined that a patch would happen and then mess things up that bad.

This can never be intentional. Or you just want to make Series S owners feel bad, do you?

Not sure if anyone can help but is the Hammerhead RS free and if so how do you get it? I may have misunderstood but the wording makes it sound like a free vehicle. Cheers

Great to see the Xbox Series consoles receive upgrades, personally I own a Series X and refrained from playing this game until upgrades such as this, were released. I'm really happy to see these upgrades.
But, I have many friends who have recently purchased a Series S, to which Microsoft clearly states is a 1080p/1440p device. I find it very odd, as a business decision, to upgrade the Series S version of the game to 4K, but keep at 30fps... Yes there will be some players who will have their Series S hooked into a 4K TV, but the general marketing of the Series S is for consumers who aren't generally as fussed about the resolution.
I can guarantee 95% of Series S owners would prefer to have higher frame rates, at the expense of the 4K resolution, which most Series S users won't have access too anyway.
Just an odd decision for the game and personally I think it'll result in less concurrent players. Even to just give consumers the option, would be better than not at all.

The Hammerhead RS is free in that you don't have use real $$ to buy it, like the DLC cars.

Just go into Tournament mode and if you got 70,000 fame points to use, which a lot players have, buy the Hammerhead RS. Now if you a new player, you going need earn up some fame points first, by doing the dailies, weeklies and the one monthly.

Made an account to say 30fps/4K on Series S is not what any Series S user is looking for - it's designed as a 1080p (or 1440p, I suppose) console, and so please aim for 1080p/60 (or 1440p/60 if possible) as 30 fps is not acceptable this generation nor is 4k necessary on Series S. Thanks!
